TV: NHL Network

Joel Armia had two goals and an assist to lead Finland to a 4-1 win against the United States in a Pool B preliminary-round game Wednesday at the world junior hockey championship.

Finland and the U.S. are both 1-1 in Pool B behind Canada (2-0).

The U.S. faces the Czechs on Friday.

  1. I just hope JZ shows a little leadership and plays a consistent game today. If he plays to his full potential Team USA has a chance to win. But then again we all know that JZ hasn't done that all season.

  5. "assdu17" your joke is played out now. Time to move on. The poster you are attempting to mock didn't even say anything bad about Zucker. Just gave props to N. Shore. Get a life tool.

  6. Should be an interesting and hard fought game today vs Finland. The Finns will likely be in an ornery mood after getting drubbed by Canada.

After spanking Denmark Team USA now has 3 tough opponents.

  7. Zucker needs to play like a Capt ......not a like baby taking retaliation splashing penalties and making his yearn defend a 4 on 3.

  8. Team USA getting chances but has yet to solve the Finnish goaltender. Zucker has not been impressive thus far today.

  9. Is splashing just a 2 minute call?

    ReplyDelete
  10. With 9 minutes remaining USA gives up two goals to trail 3-1.

A tie wouldn't have be too bad because Finland lost to Canada 8-1.

Looking like the USA will be the #3 seed in the elimination round.

    Brutal.

  11. Out worked, outplayed and, most importantly...... zero leadership from Team USA.

  12. Ugly game for Team USA. Mediocre goaltending, some sloppy and uninspired play by our d-men, and sporadic effort doomed this team today. Give the Finish goaltender credit, but honestly, did he make any spectacular saves? He gave up some big rebounds but no one seemed to be around for second and third chance opportunities.

Tough road ahead. Hopefully the adversity makes these guys better.

  13. FYI: If USA beats Canada by two or more goals on New Year's Eve and there is a three way tie for 1st the US wins the tiebreakers for the elimination round.

  14. What's the consensus among posters on how to deal with trolls like 4:05? Respond and defend our player/USA captain which obviously feeds the troll, or just remain silent under the hope that they will go away if left un-fed?

  15. @ anon 5:41

Are you referring to anon 4:45? Many people would consider me an expert on the subject of trolling so I'll give you my opinion. Most trolls (not including myself) will go away pretty quickly if you don't feed them. They might come back from time to time (like the North Dakota fans that post here) but they won't stick around permanently.

  16. Also, even just asking if you should feed the troll is essentially feeding the troll. We love being the topic of conversation!

  17. Never mind the WJC. DU has a monumental task this weekend, to get the 2nd half of the season off to a proper start. If they lay down and let Union dominate, then USAF gets the W on Saturday... we have a hole to dog ourselves out of, going into February, when The Gophers and Sue anxiously await to spoil our Florida plans

  18. I'd put the odds of the US beating Canada this weekend at 1000:1. It ain't gonna happen........

  19. On another note....raise your hand if you think Canadian hockey fans are jackasses. All of the anti-USA crap up there is a joke. Talk about a bunch of people with an inferiority complex......

  21. Team Canada played like a champion tonight against the Czech's...the USA did not play like a champion earlier today. Hopefully, we can get our sh$t together and be a contender in the medal round!!!!

  22. Schwartz is a better captain than JZ. He shows up every game ready to play. And he's more talented.

  23. Haters gonna hate... The Canadian fans don't like us - oh well. Here is a shout out to Schwartz!

Supper's ready and it's poutine tonight!!!

  24. After seeing both of Canada's games, they certainly look like the team to beat. I give Team USA a fighting chance to win on Sat, but it's going to take a supreme effort to do it. First things first, though, our guys need to beat the Czechs on Fri. The US team I saw today didn't look like a team that was playing with much confidence. That needs to change asap.

  25. The Russians started the tournament 0-2-0 last year, won it all and were so drunk at the airport the next day Delta wouldn't allow them on the plane.

The US team will need to follow the Russian blueprint.

  26. Ô Canada!
    Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
    Il sait porter la croix!
    Ton histoire est une épopée
    Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

  28. Anyone who knows Canadians or Canadian hockey fans knows that they are a very proud bunch who feel very threatened if someone else steals their thunder in hockey. Consider it a sign of respect that they boo the US. Canadians know that the rest of the world is catching up in hockey and they don't like it.

  29. Of course, only during the WJC. Afterwards, everything is coup-de-la

  33. I'm thinking that the USA needs an above ground nuclear test of our aging arsenal. Next Canadian city that boos our anthem needs to be turned into volcanic glass. And then nuke the whole middle east. And then kill Ron Mexico.

  37. DU fans - your fan blog is nothing more than a troll hole (or a place DG can re feed you information). Also, Big Bowel Movement, better known as big boss man is a fraud. Read his posts and it's clear he's not who he says he is. He can be kind of funny but... Anyway, enjoy the zombie invasion bitches!!! Also - DG use to blow dudes in college... gross! Anyway I moved down south to share a hot tub with mexico.

  40. Bozak was awesome while at DU--incredible on faceoffs, an amazing goal scorer, and great passer, too. I'd say he was just as effective a player as Zucker is for DU right now. A real game changer. His injury during his sophomore year really took the team off its game. He made a good effort to play in the NCAA tournament game that year, but it was too little, too late. I ran into him in a bar a couple days after the NCAA loss and asked him what happened. He didn't really have a great answer--I got the impression the team just ran out of gas or something. Anyway, great to see him doing well for the Leafs.
