Gopher Party Leads To Season Ending injury

Connor Reilly will miss season
The hockey season hasn't even started and yet players are falling like flies from alcohol related incidents.  The latest shoe to fall comes via Gopherland.

University of Minnesota forward Connor Reilly, one of the hockey program’s top incoming freshmen, will miss the entire 2012-13 season because of a knee injury.

Reilly hurt his right knee in an off-ice fall at a recent team party, according to two sources close to the situation [read entire article].

Connor's father, Mike, played for two seasons at Colorado College before transferring to the University of Minnesota.

  1. I had not read that alcohol was involved. Can you please point me to the article that indicates that was the case? Thank you!

  2. YOu stated it as though it was a fact. that is why I asked> I had not read it.

Thanks for clarifying the lack of anything behind your assumption. :)

  3. Saturday + team party isn't a lack of "anything" chuck. It could be wrong, but it is the most logical conclusion. You're very sensitive about your Gophers and Minnesota. Lighten up and enjoy things a bit. I'm beginning to think that you are actually from GF.

  4. Responding to chuck I forgot to mention the more important thing...really sucks to hear about this injury. Denver recently had Brittain out for a majority of the season with an ACL. Kid seems to have a lot of talent and I look forward to him playing in a Gopher sweater next season.

  6. Charlie@HockeyBias.com....

You have to realize that these losers have NOTHING to talk about, but issues on other teams. DU's fan base doesn't even come close to even Mankato's.

Starting today...can you losers talk about your upcoming season? I want to see a thread in which you analysis your strengths and weaknesses for the upcoming year. Until then, this site is really a joke. Just a bunch of hacks. You bag on UND fans, CC fans, Gophers fans..etc and you haven't done sh&t in 7 years. You also didn't do sh&t for 35 years before that. You act like you've been BC this past decade. You HAVEN'T. Shit were a month away from the start of the season....enlighten me on DU hockey. Were all hockey fans...seems DU fans talk about everything but the game itself. I've been to Magness and seen first hand how shitty your attendance is, so I really shouldn't be surprised.

  7. In the past decade or so only BC has brought home more major hardware than DU out of 58 NCAA programs.

    2 National Championships, 8 trips to the NCAA's, 3 MacNaughton's & 3 Broadmoor Trophies.

And all this while routinely leading the WCHA in GPA & Scholar Athletes.

    Thank you for playing.

  8. 9:26, same to you. All you do is come over here and talk shit. At least we don't come over to your board to talk shit. Don't be such a hypocrite.

As for the upcoming season, we'll see how it plays out. We should be very solid in net with hopefully the best goaltending in the league with Brittain and Jussi. Our defense should also be very solid with a nice combination of finesse and physical players. Getting Makowski back after missing most of last season will be big. Him and Joey Legs should be great on the pp. Mayfield and Didier should pick up right where Ryder left off and be crushing people left and right, playing solid D, and blocking lots of shots. Our offense has a lot of question marks with the early losses of Bennett, Zucker and D. Shore. Combine that with no "Zucker type" recruits coming in, at least on paper, this seems to be the area we might struggle in.

Personally, I think guys like N. Shore, Loney, Knowlton, S. Ostrow, Larraza will step it up and we'll have new household names come December. Although not heralded, one or more of the freshman forwards coming in will most likely be a pleasant surprise, with Zajac being the most likely choice. It's hard to predict though. Somewhat like Salazar when he came in. Nobody thought he would contribute that much.

There, is that better? I just regurgitated what's been said 100 times already.

I think we're all just getting ready for the start of the season. Analysis of your team can be fun and interesting sometimes, but it also can become pointless and very redundant at times. Let's see how they play once they put the skates on.

  9. Hey 9:26. Think again.

DU attendence isn't shitty. It's in the top quarter - 12th out of 58 NCAA teams and it has the second highest average ticket prices ($25-30) in country. DU Hockey generates between $2-3 million in revenue annually.

DU's attendance is almost twice that of Mankato.

DU drew 88% of capacity last year, 12th nationally, about 5,300 per game.

Mankato was 24th nationally at 3200 per game, about 66% of capacity.

DU does very, very well considering the high level of entertainment dollar competition in this market.

  10. Any that doesn't think that “alcohol” wasn't a factor in the Gophers team party is delusional... Hum… I am pointing the finger squarely at Charlie.

  11. I think we will have a good season the guys look to be in good shape. DG look's ready to go he put on another 20lbs in the off season

  12. Isn’t it just a tad hypocritical that the guy crying about alcohol related offenses was so drunk that he wrapped himself in a hotel bed sheet and then rode on a Boston bus to the Frozen Four?

  13. Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests - we did. [winks at Dean Wormer]

  14. Let's put this in perspective Anon 1:21.
1, DG had already used his eligibility and was unable to dress for the Frozen Four.
    2. The powers that be in the NCAA wouldn't give him access to hang appropriate signage,
    3. Better public transportation than riding a moped, looking rather Budda-ish, and arriving with a torn ACL..

  15. But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

  16. DU still has fraternities? I thought they all got turned into book clubs.

  17. No Charlie Boy, the truth of the matter is, YOU logged onto this site to read and post here, which just shows to go you, that this site is really not a joke. I seriously doubt someone held a gun to your temple and forced you to do that. So we win (again)!

Don't you worry about Denver Hockey. Let's just wait and see who's who, say... oh around Super Bowl time. Log back in then for us, and let us know how it's all working out. Until then, please be respectful; and remember - CC Sucks, North Dakota Swallows.... and UM is too drunk to do either one.

  20. DG since your last nc you have won one game just one in the ncaa's. Way to bring home the hardware.

    ReplyDelete
  21. DG will be adding to the "rap sheet". Panzerella, Gaarder, Pattyn, and O'Donnell added to the suspension roll call. Kristo gets a 2nd night off,
AND..."local prosecutor,David Jones, said underage drinking charges would be brought against four players.
He signed “informations,” or complaint sheets, on four UND hockey players under 21, he said, alleging they consumed alcoholic beverages."

  22. I notice the latest thread is actually about DU hockey and it has one comment. UND drives this board. You losers are pathetic. Here is to a UND sweep against DU this year. A previous poster said he would buy you a beer. I will pour my beer on you if you come to GF. I have zero respect for you.

    @ vizoroo....your a homo.

Drunk underage Gopher hockey players must have been painting the football field in their spare time.
