Yale is #9 in the PWR and has some team speed and a very good goaltender (maybe the best DU has faced this year), but they are a young team and have not an oppponent as good as DU is this year.
Pios need to own the puck tonight, and get lots of pucks and traffic on net.
DU was out-played, out-skated, out-worked, and out-hustled...ALL NIGHT.
DU lost every single battle for loose pucks, never took speed through the neutral zone, and was unbelievably lackadaisical with the puck in the offensive zone.
Their passes weren't crisp. The decision making was highly suspect, and the freshmen played like freshmen. Unfortunately, the seniors didn't show much more maturity than the freshmen...
Yes, they ran into a hot goalie, but DU deserved to lose tonight; and lose huge.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gwoz makes the rink manager turn on the lights after the crowd leaves tonight, and doesn't let the boys leave the ice until someone pukes up their obviously over-indulged Thanksgiving dinner....
Hats off to Olki between the pipes. He played a hell of a game. Outside of that Yale outplayed DU in every aspect of the game. Have to get at least a goal on a 5-3. Sad. Refs tried to help the Pios out but they were just FLAT. Deserved to lose that one.
DU is 6-0-0 all-time against Yale.
