Coombe Daddy, Provost Gregg Kvistad and DU's vice chancellor and chief marketing officer Kevin Carroll need to be given one-way tickets out of town together.
And I will pack their bags. If these guys were in "the real world" they would have been shown the door a long time ago. I was no fan of Chancellor Mitchell but he looks pretty good compared to these guys.
So lately I've found out my name has been passed around the DU office, for some of the reactions to the crap DU has pulled over the last year.
According to them, they are saying I have no school spirit and a friend of mine is worried they might try to pull something on me. I'm willing to do what it takes to stick it to them in the name of my school.
A couple interesting tidbits in that article about Sidelines being replaced by a subway ... one, they say the long-planned Driscoll renovation is on hold (hmmm, financial issues?). They want a starbucks on campus (I guess to compete with the student-run Beans coffee shop) and more national chains
I'll have you know that it's not just some overweight alumni. We are talking about a star widget salesman his trusty sidekick(s). Oh and a kid wearing a costume with a big styrofoam head.
Will Boone be showing up at any DU events this weekend? Anything planned for the week leading up to the opening season? A pep rally or appearance at the local restaurants? Is there a schedule of appearances of our love lovable mascot so we can bring our kids to see him?
One of the problems of having an unofficial mascot is that Boone's appearances are rather random. The University has nothing to do with scheduling him. You have to remember this is just a student attending games in a costume. Scheduling is nonexistent. It's little more than when the kid feels like showing up. Much like his classmates, attendance at sporting events isn't a priority.
I love Boone but it would have been nice to have a mascot at all the games. Even if it was an elk.

I'm willing to pay for the tickets.

ReplyDeletePutting chain restaurants on a campus that is supposed to have a world class Hotel Restaurant school just sums up what is going wrong at DU right now.
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago Sodexo wanted to put a Panda Express on campus and the protests got that nixed.

Chain establishments! The fruits of Corporate Capitalism at its "finest"...
ReplyDeleteHmmm, financial issues? Could the real cost of the obama show somehow contributed? Stay tuned. It cant be buried forever.
ReplyDeleteWhat if the students and alumni choose Coombe? Will you shut down the blog? Put the costume back in the closet?
ReplyDeleteCoombe must find it entertaining that some overweight alumni wants him fired because he wont endorse his little mascot.
ReplyDeleteCoombe WILL find it entertaining that enquiring minds want to know

But an elk wouldn't contribute to victories the way Boone does.
