ReplyDeleteDU raises its prices every two years or so, which is fair.
ReplyDeleteDU is the WCHA champion and quality has a price. DU hockey is still a huge bargain compared to Avalanche hockey....

Isn't CC building an arena on campus?
ReplyDeleteI believe World Arena was constructed and financed by the US Olympic Committee & the City of Colorado Springs.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way that CC would build an arena on campus. 98% of CC's fans aren't CC alums and World Arena is in a great location. Freeway access, plenty of good bars and restaurants.
The price drop in tickets is reflective of CC having to sell 7,200 seats for each game and the struggling Colorado Springs economy.
With the exception of minor league baseball, CC hockey doesn't have any competition for the local sports dollar. They should be drawing better with these prices.

ReplyDeleteAt Magness, Wisc might be 4th out of CC, UND and Minn in terms of fan appeal, but it is a very, very close 4th.
Is that were the Colorado Gold Kings also used to play? I think the 'Kings were better than CC ever could be - for family entertainment dollars, that is. I can't imagine paying to watch CC lose week after week down there. When they come to DU, I view it as "junk dates"; those are the games I give away to my boss and his ugly girlfriend. I usually stay home those nights and watch someone like Quinnipac vs. Brown on NESN.
ReplyDeleteI swish the DU fan base got as hyped up about playing real teams like Dakota or the Goophers... such a wast of so much great fan spirit and pride.... on C flippin C. 57 - and they still suck!
Considering that the Goldkings were a professional team, I would certainly hope they would be more entertaining than CC to watch. But then again, they didn't last very long either down there.
ReplyDeleteYou can't imagine paying to watch them loose week after week but an average of 6,500 CC fans per game is 1,000 more than the average DU. Right?
