It's DU vs. CC Gameday

DU Ice Arena - October 26th, 1984 - The University of Denver was in the middle of a 4-0 throttling of Colorado College when the game was delayed for over 30 minutes. Several SAE Fraternity members had crawled up in the catwalks and released a giant 15 foot banner.

The game was delayed while the DU Maintenance Staff went up in the rafters to remove the banner. The picture above was published in the 1984-85 DU Yearbook.

    DG--it's a testament to the greatness of your blog, that so many fans of other teams read it. Keep up the good work!

    CC Sucks. Big series, big rivalry, a great weekend of hockey is ahead. Can't wait for the game tomorrow at DU. DU soccer gave the CC fans a long bus ride home last weekend. I expect DU hockey to do the same.

    The DU alum in the photo is not Miller. Its an unnamed DU alum in Houston who was a longtime DU season ticket holder in the old barn.

    He can often be spotted at the NCAA Frozen Four as he's a regular attendee. If you see him in Pittsburgh ask him about the Stormy Story. He loves to tell it.

    Miller, be safe in Israel. Probably not the best timing for a trip over there. I'll text you scoring updates tonight.

    Much like the 'CC Sucks' cheer may lack cleverness and orginality, it works in a timeless way. DU students in the 70s chanted it in the same way students in the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s. It's called tradtion, and it's part of what makes college sports so special.

    The photos are part of DU tradition and most DU fans love it...
