DU Eliminated From Sunbelt Volleyball Playoffs

The University of Denver volleyball team (25-7) lost 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 to Western Kentucky (24-9) in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament Thursday in Miami.

The Pioneers’ 25-7 overall record marks the best record in program history through 32 matches. Denver also boasts an impressive 16-1 record in Hamilton Gymnasium, which sets another program mark for best home record since becoming Division I.

“I am very happy with the way this team has handled itself throughout the entire season and the successes that we were able to accomplish,” said head coach Beth Kuwata.

The No. 3 seeded Pioneers begin Sunbelt Conference Championship action today against No. 6 Western Kentucky in Miami, Fla. The match begins at 5:30 p.m. (MT) and if Denver advances it will face the winner of the No. 2 Middle Tennessee versus No. 7 Arkansas State match on Friday at 5:30 p.m. (MT)

DU Women's Volleyball Off To Playoffs In Miami

The University of Denver volleyball team was chosen as the No. 3 seed for the 2008 SBC Volleyball Championships hosted by Florida International University in Miami, Fla.

With their 14-4 (.778) SBC record, the Pioneers will face #6 seed Western Kentucky on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. (MT).
