(above) Las Vegas native Jason Zucker will be attending DU next Fall


ESPNU chose the University of Denver men's lacrosse team to be part of the inaugural Warrior Classic, a doubleheader in East Hartford, Conn., that will feature two other ranked teams besides the No. 17 Pioneers. DU will face Eastern College Athletic Conference rival Fairfield in the first game April 24, followed by No. 13 Georgetown vs. No. 18 Massachusetts. Both games will be televised on ESNPU.

The Toronto Star has a feature article on Tyler Bozak's first game back in the NHL for the Maple Leafs. Although Bozak had an assist, he didn't lead the Maple Leafs to victory as many of their fans were hoping. Bozak will face Matt Carle and the Philadelphia Flyers tonight.

The Las Vegas Review Journal has a feature length article on DU's other Golden Boy, recruit Jason Zucker. Zucker expects to be the first Nevadan taken in the NHL Draft next Summer.

Denver Post coloumnist Terry Frei has an article on former DU radio announcer Norm Jones who is retiring from the Avs radio broadcasts. Jones was a graduate of DU and starting doing Pioneer hockey broadcasts in 1982.

The DU Men's basketball game at Louisana-Monroe will be shown on FCS-Rocky Mountain on Tape-Delay at 9 PM on Saturday night (Jan. 16).

Former DU Captain Brian Vines is leaving the Miami University Redhawks to join former DU assistant Seth Appert at RPI. Vines a former defenseman for the University of Denver served as a volunteer assistant coach for the RedHawk staff for the 2008-09 season. Vines will replace another former Pioneer, Shawn Kurulak who resigned as an RPI assistant coach in order to move back to Denver and pursue business interests not related to hockey.

Former DU star Tyler Bozak will have to battle Christian Hanson and Andre Deveaux for fourth line duties on the Toronto Maple Leafs this preseason.
