Glenn Fisher Named WCHA co-Defensive Player of the Week

A pair of goaltenders who had outstanding performances over the weekend, Glenn Fisher of the University of Denver and Nathan Lawson of the University of Alaska Anchorage, have been named Red Baron WCHA co-Defensive Players of the Week for Jan. 23-29, 2006.

.
Fisher, a 6-1, 190-pound junior from Edmonton, Alberta, recorded his first collegiate shutout in a 1-0 conference road victory over No. 1-ranked Wisconsin last Friday (Jan. 16) at the Kohl Center.
.

Fisher stopped all 28 shots on goal against the league-leading Badgers, including 12 in the first period, and helped the two-time defending national champion Pioneers kill all five of their opponent's power-play chances.

.

On the 2005-06 season, the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) draftee now sports a 10-7-3 record, a 2.47 goals-against average and a .910 saves percentage over 751:45 of action. Denver, 14-10-3 overall and tied for second in the WCHA with a 11-5-2 mark, hits the road later this week for a Jan. 27-28 league road series at Alaska Anchorage.
