Rhett Rakhshani - University of Denver
With a hat-trick in a span of six minutes to lift the seven-ranked University of Denver to a come-from-behind 3-2 win victory over St. Cloud State, Rhett Rakhshani created one of the most memorable finishes in Pioneers history. The Huntington Beach, CA. native scored one goal the night before in a sweep of St. Cloud State, pushing his totals on the season to 14 points. The New York Islanders prospect is heading to the Czech Republic to represent the United States at the World Junior Championships.
And they had this to say about DU Recruit Joe Colborne who will wear a Pioneer sweater next season.
C Joe Colborne, Camrose, AJHL, 6’-4”, 195 Pounds
Joe Colborne is putting up points in the AJHL at the same pace as Kyle Turris did in the BCHL last year leading the league in scoring early on. Colborne is the best in a small group of exciting draft-eligible prospects playing in the CJAHL this season. He is a big kid who has awesome hand skills, good speed, nice vision and he also possesses a decent shot. Playing against less skilled opposition, Calborne will need to continue his torrid pace he is on early to continue down the road of being an early first round selection.
