Profile of Avalanche Hockey Player Debuts Mon., Jan. 7 at 7:00 p.m. MT

The next installment of FSN Rocky Mountain’s SPOTLIGHT series shines on former University of Denver hockey star and current Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny. The half-hour profile series debuts Mon., Jan. 7 at 7:00 p.m. MT. Replays are scheduled for Mon., Jan. 7 at 10:00 p.m., Tues., Jan. 8 at 2:30 p.m. and Wed., Jan. 9 at 6:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Hosted by Tom Helmer, SPOTLIGHT: PAUL STASTNY features an in-depth interview with the second-year Avalanche player.

Stastny talks about his decision to attend the University of Denver to play collegiate hockey where he helped DU to its second-consecutive national championship in 2005 and captured the WCHA scoring title during the 2005-06 season. Son of Hall of Fame hockey player Peter Stastny, Paul joined the Avalanche in 2006 and began his professional career with the same franchise as his father started with (when the franchise was the Québec Nordiques). The younger Stastny discusses his relationship with his father and Peter’s support as Paul joined the Avalanche after his sophomore season at DU.

Stastny also remarks on the NHL’s fan base. He believes that fans have lost interest in the sport over the last decade, but feels hockey will see a fan resurgence in the upcoming years because of the young talent.

SPOTLIGHT is a series of original programs profiling some of the region’s most prominent personalities in sports. Each episode takes a look from the perspective of the person profiled and from those who have helped influence their lives inside and outside of sports. FSN Rocky Mountain’s next SPOTLIGHT is placed on Colorado Crush quarterback John Dutton Tues., Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. MT.
