Well, CHN has taken down their claim that Brock is done at DU.
They probably were just believing that HACK over western college hockey blog.
The blogosphere has way too many HACKS who take themselves way too seriously. That's what I like about this blog -- there are no delusions of grandeur and you don't take yourselves too seriously, plus it's entertaining.
Actually I heard that Cody Lampl, Blake Trotter and Derek Patrosso have all joined the Fellowhip of Christian Athletes. Yep. These three will be traveling the world teaching hockey skills to disadvanted youth while serving as role models.
Wrong - Lampl and Patrosso have nothing in common with 'Blake' (sic). Lampl and Patrosso were suspended from a program that was up front and immediately forthcoming about consequences, whereas 'Blake' was at DU.
"CC players were suspended for a blackface incident. Later, more CC players — Cody Lampl and Derek Patrosso — were suspended for lengthy periods of time for ... something, again, really, really bad that's "undisclosed."
Yeah, upfront and immediatley forthcoming I'd say - get your facts straight
Read again. "Forthcoming about *consequences*": suspended for specific lengths of time. I agree that privacy should prevail regarding specific details of the offenses involved, but the Trotter affair smacks of coverup.
I wouldn't call it a cover-up at all. I'd call DU's handling of this issue as a very pragmatic and thoughtful PR approach to a very bad situation. Sure, they could have made a spectacle out of kicking Trotter out of school and off the team. That only serves to make the school look high and mighty. Instead, I think DU waited until he got a pro deal so he could leave with some of his dignity. DU was looking out for the interests of the player, even when the player likely screwed his school.
2:52....what are you confused about?? DU handled the situation the way they saw fit. If you agree on the privacy issue, what's your point? Every situation is different. What Lampl and Patrosso did has nothing to do with this. Just because you want to see Trotter raked over the coals doesn't mean squat. Get off your high horse.
I think DU saw this situation through a number of potential lenses, and determined that it need not be a zero-sum game.
There is a the reputation of a young player at stake here, and DU saw the big picture - a way to minimize the damage to both said player and school, without being self-rightous or sanctimonius about it. That's not spin - that's common decency in my book. In a day and age where moral grandstanding and the accompanying finger-pointing are de rigeur, I find DU's low-key approach to be appropriate, assuming that Trotter's offenses were self-inflicted.

I have some information on Trotter. Doesn't sound too good. That's about all I can say. Hopefully we hear something official soon......

I don't know if it was much of karma at work there. You can trace the downward spiral of DU in the 2nd period of the first Wisconsin game at DU.
