TrotterWatch™ Day 7 - How About The USHL?

UPDATE: Mike Chamber's Blog checked into this report and posted his conversation with former Sioux coach and current USHL Commissioner Gino Gaspaini. Jim McGroarty, head coach and GM of the Lincoln Stars. Chambers emailed McGroarty last night, asking if Trotter was returning to Lincoln, and he wrote “no” and “I wish.”

According to a poster in Grand Forks at USCHO.com
"Tim Hennessy (KCNN-AM 1590) said he talked to USHL commissioner Gino Gasparini just before the show went on the air and Gasparini told Hennessy that Trotter was in Lincoln trying to catch on with the Stars."
Its interesting because Trotter would retain his college eligibility, could hypothetically return to Denver or any college at some point and he played for the Lincoln Stars before coming to DU.

Trotter was the 11th leading scorer in the USHL in 2004-05 for Lincoln.

Wow. Interesting development if true.

I wonder if he would play the rest of the year in the USHL and then try to catch on with the AHL or something for next season. He could go back to collegiate, but I believe he would have to sit out a year (unless he went back to DU again).

Any chance he could play for the Sioux? Gino=Sioux. He may like that style of hockey better than DU. I would only advise him that Grand Forks does not have an Anthony's Pizza which this ND boy really enjoys. Grand Forks has the Red Pepper though. Go Sioux!

Maybe he couldn't cut it academically at DU, so, yeah, UND - good choice! :)

Lincoln fan here, very interesting...we already have 4 87's, and all are fairly good/veteran players. It'd be tough for our coach to give up an 87 for Trotter i would think, but he is a great talent

Another problem with Lincoln adding Trotter is the fact that we already have our max for imports, we'd either have to drop our goalie ( Not gonna happen) or 2 players to pick up Trotter. If the USHL didn't have import or OA rules it'd be great.

Does Lincoln have exclusive rights or could he sign with any USHL team? Tri-Cities has only one import and Littler has been very public with his unhappiness of the play of his older players? Going to USHL while his "family advisor" finds the best offer from NHL teams makes some sense as a making the best of a bad situation strategy.

Chambers says that Trotter probably wasn't in Lincoln.

Where's the BAD BOYZ thread? If this was any other team, you'd have a thread going. It's fun when people spout a bunch of crap w/out the facts isn't it?

well, _I heard_ from people I know who know people who trust people who know the situation 3rd hand, that Brock Trotter was high on Meth driving around campus with an underage girl who was trading term papers for alcohol and signed jersies. He's currently in Chaska Minnesota doing drug rehab and dating lindsay lohan and seeing if he can get on with the Minnesota Wild

that's the facts as I know them...
