(Left) Shawn Ostrow is just a junior in high school, but is already making waves as one of the best Rookies in Junior A Hockey in Canada
Just how good are these Camrose Kodiaks? They rested their starting goaltender, Allen York, their top defenceman, Karl Stollery, and the Canadian junior 'A' player of the year & DU recruit, Joe Colborne, and still had little trouble with a motivated Oakville Blades team on Thursday night. While Colborne didn't play, DU's other recruit Shawn Ostrow contributed to the victory with two assists.
Jesse Todd scored two shorthanded goals within a 6:02 span of the second period, and set up fellow Calgarian Mike Connolly for another goal while a man down in the middle frame, as the Kodiaks completed a perfect round robin at the 2008 Royal Bank Cup with a 6-1 win over the Blades at Cornwall, Ont.
Thanks to the win, the Kodiaks (4-0) will face the Weeks Crushers (1-3) of Pictou County, N.S., in Saturday's first semifinal (noon MT) at the national junior 'A' championship.
