AD Cites "Strong Momentum" For Boone Return

Thanks to an alert reader we were directed to the DU Athletics Website that had an interesting paragraph entitled "Boone Update."
"DU Athletic Director Peg Bradley-Doppes reports that the momentum to bring back Denver Boone as a mascot at DU is still going strong. Former women's basketball player Brooke Meyer is taking the torch from Peter Mannino (hockey) and Alyssa Hampton (volleyball) to lead the charge by the DU student body."

OK alumni, let's get behind bring back Boone. I just sent an email to our AD indicating my support. Let's don't let a committee composed of faculty make the final decision

Thousands voted for Boone in the survey, so the message should have been received by the administration loud and clear.

Great job by Peter & Alyssa over the past year and hopefully Brooke can be a compelling advocate for the students.

To the alumni that have stepped forward to express the desire to see Boone's return we thank you.

Just so everyone knows, the History and Tradtions Committee is not a faculty committee, although there are faculty represented on it, including new members from the Faculty of Color Association.

The History and Traditions committee also includes students, administrators and alumni representatives. The majority of people on the H&T committee favor the return of Boone in some form, but they will likely be tasked with coming to some kind of compromise with the vocal anti-Boone forces...
