Boone Makes Appearance At NHL Minicamp

(above) Peter Mannino at the Isles minicamp sported duelling Boone's on his pads

While a small faction of the DU faculty does everything in their power to fraudulantly subterfuge Boone's return campus, he was spied last week at the New York Islanders minicamp.

Also attending the camp were DU alum Brent Skinner and 2009 recruit Matt Donovan.

You can't keep a good man like Boone down. Like the Pio's he never gives up. Mannino is a class guy, always has been!

If he does or when he does make the Islanders... he's got to have boone on his helmet.

And DU needs to make damn sure that Boone returns to campus so that all of Peter's efforts weren't in vain.

So when do we hear the results of the vote to have Boone brought back. And who is counting the ballots?

Anonymous said...

Supposedly it was a massive landslide in favor.

Great, a victory for truth, justice and the American way. So when does DU make the formal announcement?

Anonymous said...

Its still far from a done deal. Objections have been raised.

So it's a political thing...doesn't look good for Boone.

How can DU ignore the groundswell of enthusiasm from students, the obvious revenue implications from increased merchandise sales and goodwill from alumni vs. a few bitter employees that offer no alternate suggestions , ideas or support?

I agree with you. Perhaps a letter writing campaign to the Chancellor might be a place to start. What was the point of having the poll. Perhaps they were not expecting the outcome they received. DU is looking for support from the Alums, so now is the time for them to show it. I have no problem writing a letter, a petition...whatever!

I'm glad Manno's getting a shot with the Isles, even though the Isles are a brutal organization (Let's go Rangers!). He'll probobly play ECHL for a year then go AHL next year. He is def better than Mike Morrison and even Joey MacDonald. Could see him make a surprise though and actually make the roster in Bridgeport and be Danis's backup.

The Boone vote was overwhelming in favor, but universities, as we know, are not really democracies...

The primary opposition to Boone comes from the DU Faculty of Color Association and members of that association are now being asked to serve on the history and tradtions task force, so this will take more time.

FYI:

Survey results were:
4,495 total unique respondents

2.) 3,926 respondents advocate an immediate reinstatement or a reinstatement with art revisions

3.) 339 respondents indicated that they do not like Boone

4.) 211 respondents deem the original art as inappropriate

The alumni needed to rise up when Boone was booted the first time round. We blew it.

Now its in the hands of the students/parents who shell out 40 grand per year.

Nonetheless, you can't help but be impressed with the vote tally above provided the stats are correct.
