DU Eliminated From Sunbelt Volleyball Playoffs

(above) Dang it! LetsGoDU had this terrific photo of DU Freshman volleyball player Jordan Raines all ready to go, when Western Kentucky crashed our victory party

The University of Denver volleyball team (25-7) lost 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 to Western Kentucky (24-9) in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament Thursday in Miami.

The Pioneers’ 25-7 overall record marks the best record in program history through 32 matches. Denver also boasts an impressive 16-1 record in Hamilton Gymnasium, which sets another program mark for best home record since becoming Division I.

“I am very happy with the way this team has handled itself throughout the entire season and the successes that we were able to accomplish,” said head coach Beth Kuwata.

Great season for DU's volleyball team. It really seems like all the successes that each of our teams are having is rubbing off on each other.

Winning is contagious.

Go DU.

Too bad the SBC tourney is always during finals week at DU - DU never does well, becuase the volleyball team is probably the top academic team at DU.

On the plus side, having Jordan Raines around for the next four years will help us with the loss of uber-cutie Taryn Hemmings.

Condolences on your loss/graduation of uber-cutie Taryn Hemmings.

Hemmings is irreplaceable, but long leggy attractive volleyball players are a step in the right direction.
