DU defeated the University of Minnesota hockey team 4-0 on Saturday night. Not to be outdone, the Gopher football team lost to the University of Iowa 55-0.
They were epic, historic losses-- the fifth-worst for the football team in school history and the second-worst at home, to the 84-13 loss to Nebraska in 1983 -- and the worst ever in conference play. You have to go back to 1989 to find the last Gophers team shut out at home.
The LetsGoDU crack research staff is still researching to find out the last time both the football and hockey teams were shut out on the same day.
Minnesota should be thrown out of the Big Ten to make room for DU.
