(above) DU Student Assistant hockey coach David Carle writes for ESPN.com

DU is in the middle of its six week Christmas Break and ESPN.com guest blogger David Carle points out the advantages of the holiday for the University of Denver hockey team.

He also describes the challenges associated with being a Freshman student at DU and being a coach of mostly older hockey players.

Finally he delves into the difficult aspect of his disease and how he can't be out there on the ice developing his game for the next level. You can tell he has some frustration about "unfinished business" regarding his hockey career.

Its a very informative article, so check it out. Its a good read.

Good read indeed.

You can certainly see the competitive fire within, and obviously, the crushing shock from being forced out of playing the game is a still raw nerve...

This blog makes one proud to be a Pioneer fan.

Great stuff. David offers unique insight and a terrific perspective. I hope by some stroke of luck he can resume his career someday.

Does anyone know where he sits on gameday? I'm assuming not behind the bench (at least I've never seen him there)--probably in the pressbox?

From my seats in Section 3, I can see him sitting with the other coaches up in the press box. You can't miss that red hair
