Bozak Will Be Out 3-4 Months

The message board rumor about Tyler Bozak's longer recovery time turned out to be correct.

According to Eric Bacher's Blog at DenverPioneers.com, Bozak's meniscus had to be repaired yesterday during surgery. He will be out of action for three to four months.

According to Coach Gwozdecky, Denver is hoping that Bozak returns for the playoffs. The coaches will now have the unenviable task of retooling DU's offense without its most dynamic and versatile weapon.

There are many, many factors in regards to a persons recovery time. Including how severe the tear is, age of the person, physical conditioning of the person, quality of the surgeon, etc...

3-4 months is the longer-term recovery period, generally reserved for people older and less out of shape than Tyler Bozak.

I wouldn't put much faith in a message board rumor.

Are there any reports as to whether the meniscus was repaired or removed?

With a removal, the return is much quicker.

Your return to sports will depend on the extent of damage and the procedure performed on your knee. In general, you will be allowed to return to sports in one to two months after surgery. If a meniscus repair is performed, sports may be limited for the first three months. You must have good motion, strength, and control of your knee. How quickly you return to sports depends on several factors, including: 1) your own rate of healing; 2) the damage found at surgery; 3) if you have any complications; 4) how well you follow the post-operative instructions; 5) how hard you work in rehabilitation.

I figured that, I knew someone that had that surgery while playing in boarding school and they were done for the season. My guess is Bozak will return next year though.

I hope this is wrong! We should know for sure by Monday. We need him in the second half.

On the hockey blog on denverpioneers.com, Eric Bacher states that Bozak had his meniscus repaired and is hopefully looking to return for the post season. The article can be found at denverpioneers.com then under blogs. It's the official site so it is legit.

Sorry to hear this DU fans. Bozak is my favorite player not in Cardinal and White. Here is hoping for a speedy recovery, never want to see a great player sitting the pines because of injury, unless they are a gopher.

You're welcome DG, keep up the good work!

I'd expect to see a lot more of Maiani on the top line, Vossberg and Glasser getting more time on the second and third shifts in the coming months. This injury hurts us, but we've got a lot of depth. Steven Cunningham may get some more looks, as well.

The depth is good, no doubt. Thats something that will help us down the stretch in the 2nd half, a time when we took a nosedive the past few seasons. But as far as line predictions go, with Gwoz's strategies there's not a whole lot of point in guessing- sometimes he makes changes that make you really confused but end up working really well. Hopefully we get some pleasant surprises to even out this bummer.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. DU is sure going to need it. Thankfully the great start that Bozak helped provide will give DU a little bit of a cushion in the second half. You'd hate to be in CC's postion and have something like this happen.

Bozak made everyone around him better. No one will miss him more than The Goal Czar.

DU shouldn't expect him back for the playoffs either IMO. When you have an injury like this, he may get better exactly on schedule or there can be complications. Plus it may be too risky for his future career to come back before signing the contract. Finally if he does come back, he may not be the same player right out of the box.

DU needs to refocus without him and if he comes back before the playoffs or in the playoffs its a bonus.

Matt Trick will probably see the biggest upgrade in playing time due to this.

Perhaps he can be this years Connor James, returning for Frozen Four Glory.

However this can be summed up in two words given the season

Bah Humbug!!!

hahahah - Sucks for you DU fans! This made my day!

Your team has no chance without your Candian blood. That's what you get for being anti-american!

Get well soon, Bozie. :( My fantasy team needs you! Even though you TOTALLY sucked it up against MTU.

I'm wondering how this will impact his move to the pro's. We may have seen his last game as a Pioneer.

I hope the recovery goes smoothly.
