(above) The sale of Boone shirts has been banned in Centennial Halls by Chancellor Coombe's jack-booted thugs
Edit: DU's Director of Housing has just told a DU student, "Nothing can be sold in the dorms." LetsGoDU stands by the quote about Boone not being "officially supported" by the University of Denver.
Chancellor Coombe's Resident Assistants have banned the sale of Boone T-shirts in Centennial Halls Dormatory today. The RA was quoted as saying, "They can not support anything Boone related because he is not 'officially supported' by DU."
Therefore DU students that wanted to sell Boone shirts can not be given space in the lobby. This despite the fact that the shirts are being sold below cost and we're just trying to promote some freakin' school spirit at an institution that has the quietest hockey arena in the WCHA and ranks dead last in NCAA Division I Basketball attendance the last time we checked.
This "Boone Ban" appears to contradict the Chancellor's own email to students and alumni:

"Boone is a part of our history, one that is treasured by many alumni and friends as a symbol of the University they knew three and four decades ago, and we are certainly an institution that honors its past. Hence it seems reasonable that students and alumni be allowed to use the image as a celebration of that past, to the extent that they may choose."

I wonder who got their undies in a bunch over your t-shirts? Seems a bit much to me to stop the sale of them in the dorms. Someone has WAY too much time on their hands!
On the flip side, what are your t-shirts doing to make the students of DU better? Not as much as something like condoms would. I think you should be more responsible and have Boone Condoms made and sell them for below cost:) While you're at it you could order some toilet paper with the CC logo on it for the dorm bathrooms. Again, that would be helpful.
Come on Goddard...what kind of alumni are you?!? Go with the proactive ideas;)
I'll just go around posting tons of Boone posters in Halls. lol.
Nobody bought me condoms when I was a student. :-)
We'll sell a limited amount of T-shirts at Spankys on Friday from 3-6 PM and then the last batch on Saturday at the BBQ.
Amy, did the boyz get you a free shirt? :-)
When will this school get a clue. They know that the tide is turning towards bringing Boone back and the only way to stop the momentum is some ridiculour move like banning the sale of some T-shirts. What can be next, ready all outgoing mail to make sure there is no reference to Boone! Give ME A BREAK
No. They were done at the table by the time I got back from class.
Come get one at Spanky's on Friday or Saturday. :-)
Coombes and his jack booted thugs need to wake up.
We have some great young Freshmen students at DU who love the hockey team and want others to support the team by stirring up student support.
So they try and sell some shirts to drum up school spirit and they run into this bullshit from the dorm director or whomever.
How are they supposed to learn about entrepreneurship in this type of environment?
I think DU owes these kids an apology.
Just found out that no one can sell anything in the dorms, but that stupid policy doesn't excuse what they told the Freshmen.
The quote about Boone in the article is accurate.
DU students can't sell items in the dorms, but they can on the Driscoll Bridge and I'm assuming around campus.
That being said, we sold Bleacher Creature (DU Student Section) shirts in the dorm all the time. We sold bus tickets to Colorado Springs to watch DU play CC, all the time.
Thanks Damien for the edits on this story... it's important that all information is presented accurately. :) See you on Saturday.
Sieg heil!!
Good old Coombe.
