DU 4 - WI 3 OT - Do You Believe In Miracles?

(above) When Brian Gifford found himself all alone after a beautiful pass from Tyler Ruegsegger in overtime.....

"Obviously, we were pleased with the win, but darn it, we're capable of playing so much better. Wisconsin is a heck of a team and played a heck of a game."
-George Gwozdecky

Joe Colborne scored another dramatic goal in the waning seconds to tie the game at three with just 14 seconds remaining in regulation. Then to top it off Brian Gifford scored the game winner in the first minute of overtime. It was the biggest win of the season for a Pioneer team that never does things the easy way.

In a game DU had no business tying, much less winning, the Denver Pioneers committed highway robbery in the Kohl Center on Friday night. Denver was badly outshot, outplayed and outhustled for much of the game, but timely goals, heroic effort and blind luck trumped all.

I'll say it again. Moorhead, MN = DU gold mine!

YEAH GIFF!!!

Announcer called the goal for Colborne, but Gifford was trailing the play and scored the biggest goal of his DU career.

He scored the first goal of his career in the Kohl Center so hes obviously a "Badger killer."

OMG! I'm with Amy. I'm speechless. I'm watching this game at Bladium starting to fear for our tournament seat then we tie it with 14 sec. I'm feeling better thinking we just saved our spot then we win it in OT and I make of scene of myself :D LOL!

Surely... for now that was the biggest win of the season, but I'll probably be saying the same thing down the stretch.

Wow, incredible win for the Pios tonight! What a finish.

This was a UW's vomit game. Very similar to DU gagging up the OT game to UAA a few weeks ago.

DU was very, very fortunate tonight.

Well take it....

PS--I was thinking about the comparison to the AA game as well. UW out shoots us 35-22 and goes down. Should make for an interesting dynamic tomorrow night. The boys will be confident and not the young ones wont be so freaked out by the crowd.

AA falls to UND 2-1 in OT

This is going to be an interesting run. We wouldn't want it any other way. Go Sioux..

Let's hope for some more magic tonight. Go Pios!!!

I'm a long time reader (well, about 2 years), a first time poster, and a Badger fan. Last night's game at Magness East was not a miracle, it was typical 2008-09 Badger hockey. Ugh. I wasn't even surprised.
