The Denver Pioneers are among the NCAA's early casualties as the top seeded team in the regional west bracket lost to Miami 4-2 on Friday and were eliminated from the tournament.
Denver's loss will spark frenzy this week in the NHL as league managers attempt to persuade highly touted Pioneers forward Tyler Bozak to sign his first pro contract.
All six Canadian NHL teams have significant interest in the 23 year old Regina, Saskatchewan native and his advisor, Wade Arnott of Newport Sports Management tells TSN there is a good chance Bozak will agree to terms and sign with an NHL team this week.
However, interest in Bozak is extensive with as many as 25 teams believed to be poised to make their pitch.

I hate to lose him.
I sure hope the Avs are one of the interested teams and that they make a serious effort at signing him. It would be good to keep Tyler in Denver. Lord knows the Avs need the help!!
LOL tell me about it.
It sure was great having Bozak wear the crimson and gold, albeit for an abbreviated time this season. He was an oustanding player for DU and will be sorely missed.
The Avs are definately one of the teams involved. The competition will be fierce. They even talked about Bozak yesterday during the Satellite Hot Stove on CBC.
Interesting. Coming back from a major knee injury one can see how he would want to strike while the iron is hot and cash in and get some $$$$ based on the great soph season that he had. Good luck to him on what will hopefully be a productive pro career.
Frankly, DU is going to have so many studs and so much firepower coming in next year that I don't think that they will suffer from a lack of production with the absence of Boz. Now leadership, that is another matter that they need to address with the departure of Ruggs and Rak...
Am I making too big of an assumption that Ruggs and Rak will be back next year?
New Hamphshire-B.U. 1 to 1 third period underway
B.U.scored in last 15 seconds --won 2 to 1
On a side note J.D. Corbin and Geoff Paukovich were reciepents of the man of the year awards for their respective AHL clubs for community service and professionalism and are part of the 29 finalists for the AHL yannick dupre award for man of the year. Good to see two DU alums doing the right things. Corbin has been hurt most of the year and paukovich recently suffered a season ending hand injury.
I heard a little bit of chatter about Rakhshani possibly going pro. Its the first I've heard about Ruegsegger.
We were a little confused with DU only having 3 players graduating, how they could bring 6 players in, plus a recruited walk-on. Presumably will also give Salazar some scholarship money.
So it would make sense that at least 3 guys would leave early this offseason.
2009
D William Wrenn (U.S. Under-18)
D Matt Donovan (Cedar Rapids, USHL)
D Paul Phillips (Cedar Rapids, USHL)
G Adam Murray (U.S. Under-18)
F Drew Shore (U.S. Under-18)
F Shawn Ostrow (Camrose, AJHL)
F Chris Knowlton (Des Moines, USHL)
What I'm wondering is who'll replace Bozak at center. I checked up on the forward recruits and most of 'em are wing guys. So that puts Ruegs (assuming he stays) as the top center, then Maiani, Martin, and...?
Of course if Ruegs goes, then we're down to basically two guys who can realistically play center for a whole season.
Bemidji leading 4 to 1 with 2 minutes to go. It's a shame Air Force didn't win that overtime game. It would have been a first: two brothers coaching against each other in the finals.
So what do I do with my life until college hockey picks up again next winter?
The college hockey season never really ends.
Next weekend we have the beginning of the Under-18 World Championships in Fargo.
Then the following weekend is the Frozen Four.
The USHL playoffs go on for almost a month.
The Canadian Junior A playoffs go to almost June and the NHL playoffs drag on forever.
Then the NHL Draft kicks in. Shore, Phillips, Wrenn and perhaps Murray & Ostrow highlight what could be DU's biggest Draft class ever.
The Snoopy Senior Tournament in California usually features DU players from the 1960's kicks off in mid-July.
August is tough.
September school kicks off with Captains Practices and our first look at the Freshmen.
[The 23-year-old will visit with his representatives, Wade Arnott and Don Meehan, at their Mississauga office today, and begin the process of sifting through options for the talented unrestricted free agent.
The Maple Leafs are among as many as 25 NHL teams with interest in the undrafted player – and are one of the favourites because they present an excellent opportunity for the Regina native to step right into the NHL.
“This will take some time because of the number of teams interested,” Arnott said. “But we expect a decision by week's end.”]

I think Rocky and the Rubberband Man will stay. To me anyways they seem like the type that will want to graduate first.
