DG,

I just discovered your blog and am delighted you are waging the battle to bring Denver Boone back to campus. I was the original Denver Boone at DU and served from 1968-1970. I enjoyed my participation at both basketball and hockey games.

Several years ago I had an opportunity to meet Chancellor Ritchie and ask him about his decision to switch to a hawk for a mascot and after hearing his lame explanation, I revealed to him that I was the original Boone and thought his reasons were weak.

Last summer you may have read in the Denver Post a column by Bill Husted who was promoting the return of Boone. Bill and I were high school roommates and I told him I was ready to return to campus to fight the good fight. All that was needed was an airline ticket.

During my 4 years at DU I played lacrosse and played with Keith Magnusson and Craig Patrick. Two weeks ago I attended the DU vs Albany lacrosse game and this Sunday I will be in Providence to see DU play Brown.

Keep up the good work.
