DU recruit Shawn Ostrow, just recently back in the lineup due to a training camp injury, came up big in the opening game of the Alberta Junior Hockey League playoffs for the Camrose Kodiaks. Ostrow scored a short-handed goal to help the Kodiaks to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Calgary Canucks on Friday night.
Ostrow has been eased back into the lineup in the past week plays on the Kodiaks penalty kill, power play and now skates a regular shift.
On Saturday night, the Kodiaks 4-3 in overtime and now lead the best of 5 series 2-0. Shawn again played a prominent role with two assists including the game winner in overtime.
It was a big weekend for the Ostrow family, as brother Kyle scored two goals for DU on Friday night and was named "First Star" of the game.
