In order to lure college star Tyler Bozak to the Maple Leafs, GM Brian Burke needed to pay a pretty penny, reports the Toronto Sun.
Bozak's advisor, Wade Arnott, told the paper the 23-year-old has the "opportunity to earn just under $4 million per season," if he hits all his performance bonuses.
"His deal is equivalent to that of the first-overall pick in the draft," Arnott said. "He's getting the maximum you can negotiate under the entry level system."
Bozak, who played for the University of Denver, isn't the only college product the Leafs have signed. Earlier this week, the Leafs signed center Christian Hanson, from the University of Notre Dame.

The Rookie Maximum for next season.
$900,000 Salary per year.
Signing Bonus will be in $500,000 range.
$1.3 Million in bonuses for scoring 20 goals, 35 assists, making Rookie team ect.
$2 million in bonuses for being one of top 5 players in league, Hart Trophy, MVP, ect.
Its a two-way contract so if he gets sent to the AHL, he keeps the bonus and makes roughly $50,000 per year.
Think those empty net goals at the end of the game don't matter?
$213,000 in bonuses could be riding on netting a few.
