Record-setting performances by Mike Richards and Matt Carle helped the Flyers outlast the Washington Capitals in overtime, 6-5, in a wildly entertaining home opener tonight at the Wachovia Center. DU alum Carle set a club record for defensemen and tied an NHL mark for blueliners with four assists in one period; he's the first NHL defenseman to accomplish the feat since Rob Blake on Jan. 29, 1998.
All four of Carle's career-high four assists were in a wild second period that saw the teams combine for seven goals and seven penalties.

i can see that playing major minutes with Pronger is allowing Carle to play a more offensive role. I also noticed in overtime Carle was rushing up into the play numerous times, which made me quite nostalgic.
Let's Go Flyers!!!
Long overdue. All the guy ever needed was playing time. That was proven. Rock on.
