Magness' Halloween Fire Delays 3rd Period

(above) DU student Kali Smith was on hand on Saturday night to put out the Fire in Magness Arena's Lobby

The third period of Saturday nights game was delayed for 15 minutes when the fire alarm went off in Magness Arena. Fans were instructed to leave the building.

Unconfirmed reports cited a Donut Machine in the Lobby caught fire.

About a quarter of the fans exited the arena and the teams vacated the ice except for the goaltenders who continued to warm-up and stretch.

The DU student section lustily chanted, "We're on Fire."

There's no truth to the rumor that Coach Gwozdecky pulled the fire alarm in hope of delaying the game until Chevy has recovered.

It was nice having the fire alarm going... it let me imagine we actually had a goal siren.

At first I thought it was just something they were playing over the PA during the play stoppage. It didn't click my pea-brain until I saw all the strobes blinking. And the players didn't exactly vacate the ice; they just went to the benches then were allowed to skate circles to warm up. It was pretty loud though - they way a goal siren should be. the story I heard is that Ruckus pulled the alam intentionally........

'That red tailed chicken pulled it.'

After he finished his donut - jelly, of course.

I thought Coombe pulled the fire alarm but I guess there's always several sides to a story. It probably was Coombe and Ruckus together eating donuts.

Ever notice that Coombe & Ruckus are never seen together at the same time?

Kind of like Clark Kent & Superman.

Just sayin....
