Jack Campbell turned aside 22 shots as the U.S., remained unbeaten at the world junior hockey championship Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Switzerland.

Jack Kreider, Matt Donovan and A.J. Jenks had goals for the Americans (2-0), who opened the tournament with an equally impressive 7-3 win over Slovakia on Saturday.

Benjamin Conz made 46 saves for Switzerland (0-1).

With a partisan crowd in Saskatoon behind them, the Swiss were the stronger side in the opening period, generating more scoring chances than the Americans. Sven Ryser had a chance to put Switzerland up 1-0, but was denied by Campbell on a partial breakaway with six minutes remaining in the period.

Kreider was the only player to beat Conz in the opening 40 minutes when he deflected in a Cam Fowler point shot on the power play at 5:51 of the second period. Conz appeared to not have seen the puck until it was in the net.

Conz was sensational from that point on as the Americans rifled 38 shots on goal over the final two periods. But the Swiss couldn't convert their chances, and Donovan gave the U.S., a 2-0 lead with seven minutes left. Jenks put the game out of reach four minutes later.

The Americans' next game is Tuesday against Latvia.

Nice start for Team USA. Almost certainly they will be 3-0 heading into the big New Year's eve contest against Canada.

The Canadian hockey fans' ridiculous booing of our teams never ceases to amaze me. I know hockey is the national passion in Canada, but the booing of American players is pathetic. I guess the average hockey fan up there hates the fact that we have some decent talent.

Think of the Canadian booing as a mark of respect for how far the US program has come that Canada now considers the Yanks a worthy rival.

Canada gave the world a great game, but others can play it too.

I think they were booing the refs non penalty calls against the USA especially in the 2nd

Dropping a couple of 500 lb. bombs on Ottawa might make USA Jr. shut up.

Donovan really looks great when paired with Fowler. Makes you wonder what Wiercioch & Donovan would do if they were paired together regularly.

I really like the international style of play. Certainly some incredible players in this tournament.

Zucker is a fun player to watch. Great to see both DU guys doing so well.

Go USA

Vatanan of Finland had amazing toe drag goal vs the CR yesterday. The kid has amazing speed. I've been grooving on the WJ's. The level of play is really up there.
