| With the holiday season upon us, who needs more stuff? Give someone on your gift list a present that will support and enhance a student-athlete's experience. Make a donation to DU Athletics in someone's name (ie-Denver Boone), and they will send a holiday card to your recipient acknowledging your gift. All contributions are 100% tax-deductible and apply to the donor. All donations go to support student-athletes directly. Some examples include:

DG--I know there are probably some athletes who are struggling to make ends meet. But aren't most of them getting decent athletic scholarships? I swear I'm not trying to be a scrooge. :) But I wonder if there is a similar way to target financial aid to the non-athlete demographic at DU.

That being said, DU's Athletic Department, like almost every school in the country, runs a deficit (Only the largest 30 "football schools" are self sustaining). That means that they need donations, funding from student activity fees and university funding to break even.
Due to NCAA rules DU's hockey team only has 18 scholarships. Many of the players you see on the ice each weekend are paying their own way though school.
