The Legend Of Shirtless Guy

The situation looked grim. DU trailed Boston College 3-1 with 15 minutes to play. Only a miracle would save DU.

On any other night the game would be over. But not on this night. Not during this Denver Cup with the Showcase Format. Help was on the way.

Shirtless Guy rallied Section 18, inspired the troops and woke up the infamously tepid Magness crowd. The rest as they say is history ... DU 4 - Boston College 3.

Hopefully not, because he took the game-night experience to the next level.

Magness sounded great in the third period. Fans were shouting "Lets Go Denver" full blast. I'd say it was the loudest I've ever heard Magness.

It was also great to hear the crowd "willing" DU back into the game. Maybe we've turned the corner.

Don't forget that most of the problems with overzealous security, fan harassment and stupid policies came during the "Diane Murphy Era."

Do we have a ton of work to do to make Magness one of the best college hockey venue's? Absolutely. But sooner or later its going to happen. And when it does, tickets will be untouchable. :-)

First and foremost, although this was a big game I do not believe in performance enhancing drugs! Other than a pre-game Brew it was a performance brought on by the love of the game and support for my team. Second I believe that fans bringing energy to the game plays as vital of a role as any pre-game speech when it comes to inspiring athletes to perform at their peak levels. If not what is home field, ice, or court all about?
The most fascinating part of my performance was hearing how much the older crowd in the Gold section appreciated the effort and the overwhelming participation of the entire stadium.
Shirtless out!
