DU 5 - Michigan Tech 2 FINAL

(above) John Lee against Michigan Tech on Friday night

The game wasn't as easy as the final score indicated, but the University of Denver will take the 5-2 victory against Michigan Tech. DU won its 7th game in a row to remain in first place in the WCHA.

Cody Brookwell scored the opening goal in the first two minutes of the game.

Tyler Ruegsegger scored another classic "Rubberband Man" goal in the second period.

Brandon Vossberg, Anthony Maiani and Kyle Ostrow, playing together on the second line, scored three goals in the third period. Vossberg certainly seems to be enjoying himself playing with two premier playmakers in Ostrow & Maiani. Vossberg's goal and two assists tonight doubled his point production for the season.

Funny if Vossberg turns into a two point per game player in the final quarter of his Senior season.

Ostow's pass to Vossberg was classic. :-)

Minnesota 3 - CC 0 tonight. Brings the Gophers back into the Top 25 in Pairwise. A UNO upset of Miami on Saturday night would have interesting Pairwise implications.

Colborne's 12 game point scoring streak ends.

Tech impressed me tonight. This was not an easy game by any stretch. Tech played a tough, physical game, skated hard, and had a solid forecheck working that allowed for some good scoring chances. In the end, I thought DU's depth and quickness proved to be the difference.

Great to see Vossberg bag his 1st goal.

Win or not - this was another sloppy start to an inferior team following an emotional sweep weekend... scary. Can't do that when you get to the post season. Gotta put together 3 or 4 solid back to back games from start to finish. Thier goalie had a laser-guided glove. That kid looked pretty good.

Weirdcrotch continues to play uninspired hockey. Nice to see the second line produce tonight. The 5 goals bring our GPG up to 3.23.

I say we go with Lars in net tomorrow night. That would stir the boys up I bet.

I don't know if Peppermint Patty - a future Ottowa MVP - is 100% yet. You watch - the Senators' ticket buyers will gladly shell out the big CDN's to see him someday... and we'll all smile and say that we saw him play for $18.00.

I second the motion to start Lars tomorrow!! :-)

Future MVP needs to be better at defense. I think the dude missed his calling to be a Colborne like center- big, lanky, and slightly lumbering. But would still be effective on the PP. Anymore, since break I think, he's been worthless as a defender. He quits, he gets burned in the corners, he misses checks, I'm tired of it. It's not just a bad game or two, it's been consistently poor for weeks.

*whimpering* Awwww... Jordan's tired of it :(

Patrick is years away from being NHL ready. He needs to get stronger, thicker, and better defensively. He's way too soft in the corners. He needs to stay at DU for four years, like Colborne, and develop his total game.

Is Patrick still playing with some lingering knee issues? Or perhaps the recent "upper body injury" is still plaguing him.

Hey don't rag PW for that..I too need to get stronger, thicker and better.... according to the ads in Sports Illustrated (and my wife)! I did see last night one Michigan Technological boy went off with a sore foot.... what has become of him? I don't remember seeing him back in the contest after that. Is it reasonable to assume he won't be wearing ice skates later tonight? And whilst I'm asking, is there any rumored changes to occur in Denver's lineup for tonight?

Patty will be fine.....he'll be a good pro.

DG - Any possibility OsakaPuck Productions (I think that's who originally did it?) is updating the older version of the Rubberband Man to include this season's work?
