News & Notes From Around PioNation

The International Scouting Service rates players aged 16-18 for NHL clubs. Incoming DU recruit Beau Bennett has jumped from #48 to #30 among North American skaters and stamped himself as possible first round draft choice this summer.

Speaking of Beau Bennett. He recorded four points in the last game of the season for the Penticton Vees & won the BCHL scoring race on the last day of the BCHL regular season. Bennett had a goal and three assists in the win, and closed out the season with 41 goals and 120 points, and a staggering 56 points in his final 20 games.

The USA Olympic Hockey Team including DU alum Paul Stastny will play on Wednesday against the winner of the Switzerland/Belarus game. The game will be at 1 PM MST on NBC.

My bets are on Bennett to produce huge freshman #s next year. I've watched some video of this kid and he is absolutely the real deal! I thought Bennett's #s might have been inflated playing on a line with Mandarson but he actualy increased his PPG after Mandarson's injury. Bennett, Zucker and Shore should provide awsome depth next year. There are going to be alot of lines that can score. Also cant forget about the scoring punch Makowski might bring to the table.
