DG, probably not the spot to put this, but I just came across something that I figure would be of interest to you. Looks like the Administration wants to close down the Pub. (posted the facebook group link at the bottom)
Increased hockey ticket prices on gameday, declining to recognize Boone as THE mascot, raising tuition every year... I feel like they're going out of their way to piss students off...
Typical of this administration. If you let them get away with banning smoking, not in the buildings, but outside, closing the Pub is the logical next step.
University pubs are supposed to be places where students, professors & grad students can talk after classes or meet for group projects.
I'd be interested if other schools are closing their pubs because of lack of interest or business.
Ahhhh, the good old days. I remember sitting in the Draft Board at the Student Union, drinking a cold 3.2 beer on Friday afternoon and having to be carried out of there at 8PM!!
In the mid-Eighties the Driscoll Center was brand new and Wednesday nights at the Pub were crazy.
There were often lines out the door of 50+ students. Eighties music, dancing and hotties galore. The Pub would close, I think around 10 PM & those with ID's would make the pilgramage to the Border.
If you were running for student government or working on a Committee like Winter Carnival you had to be SEEN at the pub.
Ok! I'll vouch that they are the best seats in the house. 9th row right on the red line. The only problem is I sit right in front of rhem and I'm rowdy.

When I was there in the early '00s the pub was known for bad food and worse beer.
Which of the following happened in 1957?
