Beau Bennett Attends Development Camp

Incoming DU Freshman Beau Bennett attended the first day of the Pittsburgh Penguins Development Camp yesterday.

Bennett, the Penguins' first-round draft pick last month, is listed at 6 feet 1, 173 pounds, and the 18-year-old certainly looks slight compared with most of the others at the camp.

"I just come in, work hard, try to do well," he said. "These guys are so good and a lot stronger than me, so just come out and do my best."

He showed a few nice moves in one-on-one drills, but struggled at times to keep from being ridden off the puck.

"I think going the college route, that will be something I'll take to heart," Bennett, who is headed to Denver University, said. "We'll be in the gym four or five times a week."

In addition to having to hold court in interview sessions, Bennett is also looking forward to the training seminars which are a big part of development camp. The University of Denver recruit has his pencil and notebook packed in anticipation of gaining important information concerning nutrition, psychology and off-ice training which he can take with him to college when he enrolls next month.

“I think hearing from the different professionals they are bringing in is going to be a great asset,” Bennett said. “You have to take everything they say in because it all will help you progress and be a better hockey player.”

How many days till the puck drops? I can't wait for the season to get underway----that loss to RPI still stings.

I think it was RIT. DU loves getting their ass kicked by Tigers...

Off topic; but can someone here refresh my memory as to how far CC got in the NCAA's last spring? And speaking of Colorado College... when did they win thier last National Championship? Thanks.

Smart kid

I agree - smart kid. Does he by chance own a lawn mower? If he's REALLY smart - he'll be using paper plates in his apartment, too.

I hope Grimaldi has good aim....otherwise he may fail the required course "how to properly piss in an elevator."

He's gonna piss all over your sieves next year. Grimaldi is smart, but Gregoire is even smarter because he was even closer to making a very dumb decision.

How will this kid piss all over any one in the WCHA when he is still in the USHL next season?

I know the calendar is new in North Dakota, but 2011 is a different year than 2010.

Does he have any butt-ugly amazon sisters like Lame-a-roo does? Seriously though. Any kid that willingly chooses to play for Hackstol is just plain clueless. What a way to send your hockey dreams down the shitter. Coach Dave will turn this guy into a scumbag in no time... yeah, THAT'LL make Grandma proud!

At 5'5" Rocco isn't going to be pissing on anyone.

you can admit you'd take the kid on your team any day at any time now. i can admit there are DU players i'd take on my team if given the choice. but i guess if you want to keep using the elevator pissing, lawnmower throwing, plate smashing stuff for ammo go ahead. i'll be up north waiting for your new material. Oh, I'm going to watch Zucker in the Wild's schrimmage tomorrow - I'm taking pics. Peace out guys!
