Drew Shore Injures Shoulder In USA Camp

Not too many details available, but Drew Shore injured his shoulder during the 2nd USA Scrimmage and will miss the remainder of the USA Evaluation Camp. No word how serious the injury is or if it will impact his Sophomore season at the University of Denver.

DU opens the regular season a little over two months from now against the University of Vermont.

Drew and Nick Shore both missed the cut at the camp. No further word on Drew's injury. Bennett and Zucker made the cut and will play in the exhibition games this week against Sweden and Finland. First game for USA is tomorrow against Sweden at 4PM ET.

I'm sure the competition is fierce at the camp, but should we be surprised/concerned that neither Shore brother made the cut?

I wouldn’t say surprise or concerned. I think "afraid" is more appropriate. You should be afraid...very afraid.

are the shores overrated?

We know if Drew's injury knocked him out of the camp, but we don't know if they would have cut him without the injury, Nick was a longshot anyway as an 18 year old.

I am not really surprised by either cut.

You need to remember that the making the Junior team is not a an overall talent rating. Great players and plenty of first round picks have been cut from this team over the years as they are looking for guys who fit specific roles.

Neither are gritty enough......simple as that.

Drew really impressed me last season with his energy, face-offs, sticking up for his teammates and playing his role. In other words, his "grittiness."

The problem last season seemed to be his shot selection, passing and goal scoring in the offensive zone. At the end of the season his shooting percentage was very low.

I wish we'd had a chance to see him play with Rakhshani, Kyle Ostrow & Maiani a little bit last season, but DU didn't shuffle the lines much.

DU isn't going to fare very well this season if Drew doesn't have a big season. I'd expect him to make some major strides this year and be on one of the top two lines.
