I wonder how long it will be before Minnesota State hockey fans will be cheering for Jason Zucker.

Zucker, a freshman forward for Denver, is a second-round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild last summer. He leads all Western Collegiate Hockey Association rookies with 16 goals, including two against the Mavericks over the weekend.

With a fabulous, game-tying breakaway goal on Saturday, Zucker completed the Pioneers’ three-goal comeback, and Denver later shocked MSU 21 seconds into overtime [read rest of article]

Lets hope not that soon. There's always the possibility of a sophomore slump from Zucker. *Knock on wood*

The only reason Minnesota would be pressuring Zucker to join so soon is because they've lacked offensive talent for the past few seasons. But just because Zucker is a goal scorer here doesn't necessarily mean he'll click immediately in Minnesota. Most of the Minnesota lines lack a good "set up" guy.

Let'd hope the stars keep coming up big.

I don't see the Wild amounting to anything any time soon. Zucker needs to stay in a Pioneer uniform as long as he can.

I could see Zucker making an impact with the Wild and he is a first round draft choice so it's safe to say he won't at DU four seasons. I think he would look good along size Havlet...

He was a second round pick. He's certainly exceded expectations and been very impressive. But I don't think that necessarily means he's NHL ready next year.
I think it does show that he can be a major contributor at the NHL level, but I think a one and done in his situation would be a mistake. He could definitely benefit from another year or two to polish his skills.
I think he's very similar to Matt Donovan in that aspect.

I think he's total fucking stud! In a word - yummy...

You Minny-so-cold fans just shut up. Leave our boys alone. You'll get your fill of him. He has a National Championship to win first.

Zucker is having a great year, but he's still filling out his 19 year old body (I'd peg him at 170 lbs, maybe 175 lbs), and while he plays bigger than his size, he still would get likely drilled at the NHL level or even the AHL level right now. I think DU should get another year out of him as he gets stronger and fills out to 180 or 185. Then he'll be much harder to knock off his skates.

Good point Swami - if he's thinking about flying the coop... maybe he should go have a chat over a good cup coffee with Matt Carle right about now..... Those NHL players are mean. And mean people suck.

If he does not leave this year he will surely leave next year. Since, I am a Wild fan I want to see him in a Wild uniform ASAP.
