SCSU Bad Boyz Get Kicked Off Team

(above) Click to enlarge the alleged details of St. Clould State's party in Florida that resulted with a player needing medical attention and a couple of players no longer on the team

Watch out over North Dakota. Your days as the undisputed leader of the WCHA Bad Boyz may be coming to an end. The pot smoking, car stompin', mullet hairstyle wearing St. Cloud State hockey team has been busy since last summer.

The WCHA's loveable underachievers were at it again this weekend, and when the dust had settled, two Bad Boyz were no longer on the hockey team and another player was suspended. Just to add to the intrigue, a Freshman had just quit the team and gone back to the USHL.

One of the seniors no longer on the team was the infamous Stop Sign Bandit and the other a defenseman with a questionable Central Minnesota mullet. The suspended Sophomore had just missed the first half of the season due to unknown violation of team policy.

Before the season began it appeared that the St. Cloud State hockey program had exorcised its demons. They had finally won their first NCAA Tournament game and two WCHA coaches had fearlessly predicted that SCSU would win the league title this season. Alas, by Christmas the Huskies were sitting in 11th place in the WCHA standings.

Fast forward to the College Hockey Classic in Florida. SCSU stunned Cornell and then picked up the hardware against #6 Miami the day before New Years Eve. That's when the fun started.
"Two seniors (one of whom wears an extra letter on the front of the jersey) walk into your hotel room with some booze they just purchased. "Hey guys, let's celebrate our first two day sweep of the season!" You think to yourself "It's against team rules to consume alcohol or drugs on a team roadtrip and I'm younger than 21 to boot!" But because it's somebody you respect, instead you say "sure". Nobody will find out anything as long as you don't over do it so much you can't hide your hangover the next morning. The only problem is, one of the guys gets so wasted he needs medical attention. Everybody gets busted."
So to recap, Senior Defenseman Chris Hepp has left the team and signed a contract with the ECHL Idaho Steelheads. Senior forward Tony Mosey who scored 14 goals and 26 assists last season is off the team and whereabouts unknown. Sophomore forward David Eddy has been suspended for a couple of games after missing the first half of the season for violating team rules. And Freshman Bryce Johnson has gone back to the USHL.

No word if Huskies coach Bob Motko will hold tryouts on campus this week to fill the four player void or if he will just go Old-School and roll two lines for the remainder of the season.

Tough year in Stearns County.

You might want to stop quoting message boards since the stop sign thing was completely made up (and you continue to recklessly post it).

The Stop Sign article appeared in the St. Çloud Times & St. Paul Pioneer Press back in November. Have they printed a retraction?

These players are public figures who's names are frequently found in the newspapers.

I suggest these players deal with whatever off-ice issues that continue to cause their names to appear front and center in the media.

This is a fictional story made up as just speculation as to what could have happened. I can't believe you quoted this without reading.

This is the type of filth I would have expected to be posted by the likes of GOON or some other dirty UND Fan. Most fans I have encountered from DU would never stoop to the level you just did.

It is unfortunate that there have been a couple of players that have poorly represented the SCSU Hockey team. We will see where the chips fall on this. Young men sometimes make mistakes and act foolishly. It can happen to any program. Meanwhile, until an official statement is made, these are mere rumors.

This is The Exiled One. It is a fictional story. Somebody did buy alcohol and somebody did require medical attention, but the narrative was otherwise completely my own... as I posted before and after the narrative. It's irresponsible for you to take the narrative out of context. Somebody will inevitably take your post as confirmation that the story is accurate, which it most likely is not.

Don't believe everything you hear....

Articles did appear in those newspapers, but not a word was said about a stop sign. Running over the top of cars is completely different than stealing a stop sign.

Exiled one:

Fact one (according to SCSU): Players were kicked off the team

Fact two (according to you) Alcohol was purchased.

Fact three (according to you) Medical attention was needed.

How is your 'fictional' story very far from what likely went down?

Message boards often break stories long before the media. Read the articles, believe what you want and don't visit sites if you don't like the message.

tool central, led by the ultimate tool......DG

DG just made some new friends up in St Cloud!!! When taken into consideration of your love amongst the CC and NoDakian faithfuls, you may want to consider a moniker a la Swami, you know, to protect your safety and all...

Anonymous said...

Why should DG be afraid of anyone from St. Cloud?

All he did was repost stuff that was already in the St. Cloud Media and St. Cloud Message boards. He didn't break the story.

St. Cloud fans should be much more worried about the state of their program and their drunken players than what a Denver fan puts on a Denver fan site.

I'm trying to picture several CC fans caring enough about the hockey program to want to kick the crap out of me.

LOL...CC Tig might barf all over you, if nothing else, then Dave57 and Randy May might try to lick it off of you. Besides that, they're harmless...

Exiled One....you write good narratives. I'll keep you in mind in case Harvard needs an writing professor.

Here is the official media statement...

From:
http://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=86157

"St. Cloud State has dismissed forward Tony Mosey from the team for violating team rules.

Mosey also has had several run-ins in the past, including a felony charge of destruction of property in September, according to court records. Those records also show he had two different run-ins in 2007, including a minor and giving false information to police.

In regards to if Mosey or Hepp's departures from the team had anything to do with a rumored off-ice incident while in Florida last week at the Florida College Hockey Classic, SCSU Athletic Media Relations had no comment or information."

Exiled One should never have posted his theory. No one bought alcohol for the third player. He is of age and he drank on his own accord. Third player unnamed got really really sick, and because the other two players were with him and because third player got sick, the incident was reported. All the players were having fun on New Year's Eve, and these two players were scapegoats because third player got very sick. No crime was committed, and third player actually received help, and was not left alone, which would have made the situation much worse. At least they didn't leave him, which is what some others may have done had they been in the same situation.

It's a shame that two players that because they went out with another player and he got sick (not them), but had nothing to do with him getting sick became the scapegoats as you said.
