Former Pioneer Jim Eagle Passes Away

(left) Former DU defenseman Jim Eagle passed away on March 10th, 2011


Jim Eagle was born in Vancouver in 1943. He won a Memorial Cup in 1963 with the Edmonton Oil Kings before enrolling at the University of Denver.  

During his career at DU, Jim scored 6 goals and had 22 assists from the blueline. He graduated with a Commerce Degree in 1966 and played minor league hockey for several seasons.

He continued to be involved in hockey as a scout for the Vancouver Canucks, as well as owning a successful restaurant chain and several Thoroughbred racehorses in Washington state.

With more than 60 years as a program in the books, it's sadly inevitable that more Pioneers will be passing away over the coming years.
