Jesse Martin Set To Graduate In Seven Weeks

From: DU Clarion
by Steve Coulter

The DU Clarion has a great article on Jesse Martin and his impending graduation from the University of Denver.  Despite the injury, the rehab and the distractions of of Division I ice hockey, Jesse will graduate on time with his classmates.  Check it out.

We're all so proud of Jesse for his amazing recovery. However, I think the writer needs to go into more depth about whether Jesse will actually graduate with his class. In the article, the graduation reference sounds kind of a casual end-of-story line that the writer put in to make his story sound good vs. the actual facts of Jesse's credit accrual.

Unless he was at least a quarter ahead on his credits before the injury, I would find it really hard to believe he could make up all that school work in the near-death condition he was in the fall.

Actually, a story on his academic rally might have been even more interesting than his health story, which everyone knows by now.

In any case, Jesse will always be a legendary Pioneer.

I saw an earlier interview in which Jesse said he made up all of the course work from the Fall and will graduate on time.

To add to my previous post. He only physically missed the last 3 weeks of the Fall quarter.

Mike Chambers had it in a Denver Post 1/21/11 article on Jesse. "Martin went back home around Thanksgiving and returned to Denver earlier this month. He is on schedule to graduate in June with a degree in real estate construction management. He said he has already made up the three weeks of class time he missed in November."

a degree in real estate construction management = basket weaving.
