I was pleasantly surprised to see that Dustin Jackson chose to return this season. I wonder what changed his mind. I thought that during the season last year he had already decided to get his MBA.
I think he would have to be the front runner. While I like the Goal Czar, I don’t see him being named captain.
How does the decision process work?

Miller, the answer might be that dusty took his construction m anagement degree out into the real world and found that there was nothing there to manage.

I have always expected to see Lee named captain...he seems to be one of the true on and off-ice leaders for this team. I am kind of surprised that Ryder isn't in this group and Phillips is...however, in my limited interaction with him, he seems like a really good kid and, thus, is probably well liked by his teammates.

Jackson has to wear the C this season.

I'm with you CO14ers and I'm surprised that Ryder wasn't part of the group picked already. Seems like he would be a great captain

Lee, Jax or Drew.... can't go wrong with one of those 3 in my mind. My gut tells me John Lee will get the call, since Dusty is a red shirt and he already did make a senior speech this past spring. Shore certainly deserves it too, with the way he's evolved last year as being a leader, and after being in the shadows of Ruegsegger and Rakhshani. Doesn't matter if they have a C or an A... all these guys mentioned will be busting thier ass to go to Florida

Let Ryder wear the C so he can imprint on every guy he lays out this coming season!

Johnny Lee just has that outgoing, "I'm a leader for this team" personality. He's almost always upbeat, rallying the troops...before games, he's the one down there giving fist bumps to all the guys, charging them up -- he gives fist bumps to everyone who walks by at that time, WCHA officials, arena crew and anyone else who is down there prior to game time. Ryder is the exact opposite...he looks pissed off and talks to no one. Ryder and Lee are both leaders, though vastly different in their approaches...I think Lee's makes him more popular and, thus, more likely to be captain. My $.02

Everybody has an opinion on who should be a captain. There are only two opinions that matter. The coaches and the team. No one knows who the real leaders are except the coaching staff and the other players.

True, but its interesting that they're going to drag this out over the summer. Holding up the decision leads to inevitable speculation among the fans.

Last time they picked Captains in the Fall they went with co-captains in Gabe Gauthier and Matt Carle after Brett Skinner bolted late in the summer.
