Larry Rubin |
According to Pates, "Rubin Public Relations of Narberth, Pennsylvania is handling the hockey press conference at the Penrose House today. The public relations firm is headed by Larry Rubin."
Armed with that information, LetsGoDU's crack research staff went one step further and did a background check on the PR firm and its founder.
Rubin was Vice President of Public Relations at the Spectrum Arena in Philadelphia. He handled the public relations efforts of concerts, sports and national events taking place at the 20,000-seat arena. He served as PR Director for the Philadelphia Flyers. As VP, Corporate Communications for Spectacor Management Group, he directed the public relations activities for some 20 arenas, convention centers, stadiums and theaters in the United States and Europe.”
The Flyers and the former Spectrum arena are both owned by Comcast-Spectacor, which also owns NBC and Versus (soon to be NBC Sports Network).
Coincidence?

This is some fine detective work, DG. This probably explains why the new league went all the way east to seek ut a Philadelphia PR firm - perhaps to get closer to Comcast/NBC/Versus.
World cup U.S.women's soccar is on ESPN now.
soccer
Got to credit one of our alert readers for this scoop.
Both the branding company and PR firm have ties to NBC/Comcast/Versus.
Notre Dame has ties to NBC/Comcast.
There's a heck of a lot going on behind the scenes here, but clearly this new league is doing everything right.
Technically, Comcast owns NBC, Comcast-Specator and Versus.
Comcast-Specatcor, in turn, also owns Paciolan, the new ticketing system that DU just installed to replace Ticketmaster..
Where do most of DU's big fundraising checks come from? Cable TV Meida.
Dan Ritchie, Bob Magness, Bill Daniels and current DU Board Chairman Tryg Myrhen were/are all powerful media executives with strong ties to the cable media industry.
Coincidence?
The plot thickens.
Thanks for the info.
The cable industry wasstarted here in Denver in the late 50's
by pioneers like Daniels and Magness. It's historical roots are still here.
All outward signs are pointing to some very sophisticated backstage development of this new conference...This didn't just come together over the last few weeks. I
Bruce McLeod could never have pulled this off...
Bruce McLeod could never pull his ass off of his head
I would not be surprised if Dan Ritchie is involved in these cable talks. He ic connected to everybody in the cable business and highly respected by them.
Women's Soccer? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Trust me, if you watched the last US vs. Brazil women's soccer match, you would not be sleeping. One of the more dramatic and intriguing sporting events I have seen in a long time.
turn in you man card!
"Man card"? Cut back on the Axe cologne--the fumes are turning you into an idiot.
