DU's starting goaltender this season, Adam Murray, unveiled a special goalie mask for the 2011-12 season.  The mask features artwork that pays homage to DU's proud hockey history.

The helmet features an oversized Boone, a tradition started by former DU goaltender Peter Mannino.  An epic touch was displaying DU's National Championship banners ('58, '60, '61, '68 & '69) won during Murray Armstrong's tenure.  Adam Murray's number "33" is on the chin.  Legendary former DU coach Murray Armstrong's Fedora is displayed.  Finally there is a large interlocking "DU" across the top of the crown of the helmet.

The oversized Boone will look great on TV.

Very classy to remember Murray Armstrong. Sure to be very popular with DU's hockey alumni who played under Murray Armstrong.

With all the rubber that will be flying by Murray into the net, he'll have to add some tears to Boone by mid-season.

Great to see the current Pioneers celebrating the history of their program. That kind of deep respect for those who came before is the heart of what makes tradition and elevates a program into the realm of special.

CC is gonna shove some skin flutes down old Boone's throat. Enjoy looking at the Boone when Murray gives up goal after goal to the eventual NCAA champion Tigers.

Our goalies have had some great mask designs but this one beats them all. It's a class act to put those championship banners on the helmet. Good going Adam!

CC fans are already chirping about NCAA titles?

CC should be good this year, but let's not put the cart before the horse, boys.

CC hasn't hoisted the big trophy since Ike was president and Tail Fins were all the rage.

DU's hoisted seven NCAA championship trophies since CC last did.

We're still your Daddy, Tiggies.

You should see it when the entire cc team starts playing their skin flutes in unison, it's quite the sight.

Good thing the bar owners didn't name the joint "The Red Tailed Hawk" or the Jelly Donut."

Clearly Boone Nation is picking up momentum everywhere you look. Can't wait to check the place out.

Lets hope they put up a giant sign with Boone out front and center.

Nice paint. I'm starting to wonder who's going to be the 1st to put the NEW Boone on his mask? Both Boone's on a mask, that could be cool.... C'mon Zack~~ DO IT!

I believe the red tailed hawk logo was worn by both the 2004 and 2005 championship teams. The jersey with that logo is a favorite for that very reason.

Take about jelly donuts - I just try to keep the fat guy wearing the toga in 2004 out of my head!

Talk about jelly donuts - I just try to keep the picture of the fat guy wearing the toga in 2004 out of my head!

Too much of a man-crush on fat guys in togas 11:46? Rather than trying to suppress your feelings, I'd suggest accepting them so you can go outside in society without fear of what you might do if you happen to see a fat guy in a toga. Then you can finally move forward with your life and get out of your mom's basement.
