Mannino's New Goalie Mask Stars Boone

Now that the NHL Atlanta Thrashers have moved to Winnipeg and become the Jets, DU Alum Peter Mannino needed a new look.  As usual Peter incorporated Boone into the design and the result is another great mask.

Dave Gunnarsson has done Mannino's masks the past.

Last night's volleyball game against UC Davis was Boone's first athletic appearance of the year. Boone was warned for heckling the other team, but the DU students loved it. Fun game because the entire swim team was there and would strip for every point DU scored until they were all in Speedos and ties only.

Today, Boone will be attending the Daniels Day at the Colorado Rockies, the Business school's event to get students and faculty to the Rockies Baseball game for a picnic and to meet each other.

Boone has photo ops set up with the Rockies mascot, Dinger.

Way to go Pete! What's that cost to get a mask painted? And what's the mask itself cost? I hope he isn't repainting those. They should be saved, especially since the Thrashers are gone.

@ Anon 2:05:

The better goalie masks run somewhere in the neighborhood of $800 to $1,200. Custom paint jobs can run anywhere from $600-$700 to well over $2,000. As with any custom item, the final price depends on the relative skill and fame of the artist and how elaborate the final design is.

There's also always a level of marketing in play - the more "famous" and "popular" a goalie is, the less he will be asked to pay for his custom mask; provided, of course, said mask and the famous user can be featured in the artist's portfolio.

Also, goalie masks are designed to be painted once and once only. Now, I'm not saying that repainting is never done, but since they get their masks for free, there's no real reason for a pro to keep the same mask and repaint it ad nauseaum.

Dg,......seriously....you need a life.

You do you realize that telling a blogger they need to get a life while posting and reading their blog makes you even more pitiful than the person you are trying to insult?
