DU Athletics Inks Deal With CBS Collegiate Sports

The University of Denver Athletic Department and CBS Collegiate Sports Properties have reached accord on an eight-year strategic partnership in support of Multi-Media Rights representation for the Pioneers' Athletic programs. The agreement will begin immediately and run through June of 2019. This wordy press release is hard to decipher, but if it means more lax, hoops & hockey on national TV, that would be a good thing.

Okay. Good. Glad I'm not the only one who had no clue what to decipher from that article.

It better not mean fewer hockey games being televised. I assume that it means that Root sports is gone?

Guys:

The release is a bit vague, but
this is CBS Sports Properties, not the CBS TV network - same CBS brand, but this deal has almost nothing to do with TV, and everything to do with CBS Sports Properties becoming an agent for DU in on-premise signage, entitlement opportunities, videoboard branding and premium hospitality - e.g selling more ads around DU sporting events and likely taking a piece of the action as their payment.
