University of Denver senior guard Brian Stafford scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Pioneers to a 65-58 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at American Bank Center on Monday night.  Sophomore forward Chris Udofia added 12 points and six blocked shots, the second-straight game he set a career high in blocks.

The Pioneers' Travis Hallam banked in a halfcourt heave at the halftime buzzer to give Denver a two point lead at the intermission.

“We more than found a way to win. I told our team that we’re a better team than we showed in the first half,” head coach Joe Scott said. “Games are 40 minutes, so we were able to change some things at halftime. I thought our defense was outstanding in the second half, and we played unbelievably well to give us a 14-point lead.”

The undefeated Pioneers (2-0) return home to take on Southern Mississippi at Magness Arena on Thursday at 7 PM MT.

This is great to see the hoops programs doing well.

Let's hope they keep winning...

I don't attend many hoops games, but the one vs. St. Mary's sounds like a good one. Too bad they didn't switch the times for the womens and mens games. 5:00 start on a Wednesday is not conducive to a large crowd.

Its the day before Thanksgiving, so perhaps they figure most people can be out of work.
