I haven't gotten a chance to read it. So note my ignorance please and I'm just looking for clarification. Here's what I've seen so far: Paterno was informed of an incident and immediately reported it to his supervisor (perhaps even campus security?). Then that person/those persons chose to do nothing with the information and essentially covered up the situation. Paterno didn't do any further investigation himself but wasn't directly involved in the cover up.
Is there anymore to the story? I thought I heard from someone that Paterno allowed the molester to "hang-out" around the practice facilities even after he knew about the raping. Is this true?
This is the most vile sports scandal of all time, and every athletic administrator in the country needs to be paying very close attention to make sure similar things don't happen on their campus.
The biggest horrible thing to me is not so much the under-reporting and cover-up of the 2002 sodomy event to the police (which is bad enough).
The more egregious error in judgement that these 5 PSU powerful management scumbags (Spanier, Paterno, Curley, Schultz) allowed Sandusky to run free on PSU campus for 15 years preying on kids withut shutting him down.
That's them reason that had to fire them all. You can't put the football program or the university ahead of the victims. That's the lesson here.
