Last night the New York Islanders, including DU alum Rhett Rakhshani, played the Philadelphia Flyers with Matt Carle.  A tweet indicated that Rakhshani appeared to have suffered another injury, but there was no mention of it in the news accounts of the game.

The Islanders won 1-0 in a shootout.

Matt is a winner!

Rhett stayed in the game even though he had a bloody nose. Just announced that Reese is out 4 to 6 weeks with a sprained knee. We will see if Donovan gets the call-up. Isles next play Thursday night.

Both Rhett and Matt have been hot up at the 'Sound this winter. Last weekend Donovan had his first fight, too. This Islanders themselves - believe it or not - are getting better. Atleast they're not in the basement.. they're a few points ahead of the bottom dwellers. They lost an attempt to get the Long Island voters to approve funding a new arena last fall..... but they have good ownership and leadership, and make good business decisions in the draft and trade. They're coming around, slowly but surely. I think you're going to see more DU kids going there in the coming years

Rhett has a big mouth and a glass jaw...poor combination for the NHL.

Donovan not getting called up as Milan Jurcina will be back in the line-up for the Isles. Ness will play his 2nd game as an Isle and Rock is still on the 3rd line.
