The Land Shark Named To WCHA All-Rookie Team

From: wcha.com

Finns Up. University of Denver Goaltender Juho Olkinuora [Fr.  5-4-3, 2.32, .915] from Finland was named to the WCHA All-Rookie team on Thursday.  Olkinuora had a sensational season and went from being a last minute emergency recruit to a force between the pipes in less than a year.

Defenseman Joey LaLeggia was named WCHA Rookie of the Year, WCHA First Team and named to the Rookie Team.

Drew Shore & Jason Zucker were named WCHA named to the Second Team.

So Joey wins ROY and First Team, but that takes a backseat to Juho getting named to the rookie team?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Jussi fan, I just don't understand the weighting.

Yeah, that was a little weird for me, too...

DG, seriously, revamp that post.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII
Big time congrats to Joey Leggs!
According to FS23 you are the 1st skater since Dany Heatley to be
1st Team and ROY. Not bad company. (Take that, you Rau lovers)

Jussi Olkinuora, Drew Shore and Jason Zucker, like trucker, very deserving honorees. Hey Drew and Jason come back next year for 1st Team accolades. (You too Beau!)

And "Juicy", so glad "Killer" found you before you went back to Finland. Don't know what would be a Finnish treat, but you are that.

And if I counted right, DU had 18 recognized as academic top performers.

Terrific season for LaLeggia. He may be small in stature but he was a force for DU. What a year for him.

I'm a bit surprised Shore didn't make 1st team, but he and Zucker once again were fantastic.

You get a lot more first team votes when your team, you know, lives up to predictions and finishes first...
