A University of Minnesota Gopher hockey player has been cited for disorderly conduct after police witnessed him urinating in public in Stillwater, Minnesota last weekend.
A
police report says Erik Haula was "extremely intoxicated" when he
urinated outside the Freight House in view of others after
the bars closed early Saturday. Haula was then turned over to a friend, whom police described as
"somewhat sober."
The officer
wrote in his report that he witnessed Haula "urinating while standing
on Water Street on the west side of the Freight House Restaurant & Bar in plain view of the bar crowd after bar closing."
The officer
also noted in his report that even though "it was clear that he was
extremely intoxicated," the 2009 Wild draft choice "was very
cooperative. No problems."
Haula, a
native of Finland, will be a junior this coming season for the Gophers.
He led the team last season with 49 points, scoring 20 goals and earning
29 assists.
He played one season of high school hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Minn.
Gophers Athletic Department spokesman Garry Bowman says hockey coach Don Lucia
is aware of the incident, has talked to Haula and will handle the
matter internally. The Gopher forward will be a junior this year. He led
the team last season with 49 points, scoring 20 goals and earning 29
assists.

Never met a Gopher that could hold his liquor.
Dg.... Great investigative work. Keep up the good work.
I love the "somewhat sober"
I love the graphic. Although with all your departures, shouldn't the graphic read "DU's 12-13 Season?"
Yea, great investigative work by reading the goon's blog.
Then followed up by superior cut and paste skills.
Awesome, simply awesome.
A post regarding an off ice incident involving MN is laughable at best. The Gophers will be laughing at the on ice incident known as Pioneer hockey next season. Good luck in your rebuild. Won't be too tough snaggin tickets at Magness......wait it never is.
Tickets are actually difficult to get for several games out of the season 11:15. DU "sells out" a fair amount of games, getting the butts to actually show up is more of a challenge.
And, Gopher fan @11:15, you have to have more than one good year in the past 5 to start talking smack. Going into Mariucci has been easier than going into Mankato or Houghton. Gwoz will get this team playing great hockey by the end of the season...I just hope it's not too late.
What has DU done since 2005?
"What has DU done since 2005?"
Well, DU hasn't finished in the bottom half of the standings, which the goofers have numerous times...
What have YOU done since 2005, besides enjoying life in your mom's basement?
My question is, how is DG able to break all these big stories from around the country.... but when one of our very own guys goes out after a game & gets schnockered and gets all cattywampus up in Wisconsin last winter..... there's a virtual gag order and nobody says a peep around here, and it gets swept under the carpet and forgotten about. Strange; but I like it. Protect the home team at all cost. Just like the mafia - never rat on your friends, always keep your mouth shut. Keep the stories coming!
Wisconsin? What's a Wisconsin? Never heard of one before.
"Fredo, you're my older brother, and I love you. But don't ever take sides with anyone against the DU Family again. Ever."
The tradition is that the player earning the lemon for that week is forced to dance with the rival coach. While Mike Eaves may be more attractive than most of the women in Wisconsin, you’d still have to get a wee bit intoxicated before doing the tango with him.
